How to Sell Knives Online

You are likely reading this article because of a few possible reasons. First, you are a knife enthusiast, kitchen or otherwise, and you would like to learn how to make money selling knives online. Another possibility is that you have a nice collection of knives, kitchen or otherwise, which you would like to sell for a little bit of money, but you aren’t necessarily interested in creating a “business” out of it. The last potential reason is because you are looking for recommended sites where you can sell knives, either because you have a collection of them or because you want to set up some sort of recurring system to make money. Whether or not these situations apply to you, I’m glad you are here, because this article covers all of it. In the following paragraphs below, I am going to teach you the several different ways to sell knives online, how to find websites where you can unload them quickly, and even how to create your own booming e-business with knives as the focus.

Best Websites

The best websites to sell knives often include Amazon, Ebay, or Etsy. These are often the most liked choices for selling knives because they allow for new and used knives alike. I would recommend either Ebay or Etsy for used knives, however, especially if the collection of knives you have is pretty good. There is little competition, and the only stuff that is currently posted on there at the time of this writing isn’t very good. You can change that, however, and likely expect some good turnaround with any of these sites.

Creating a Business Out of Selling Knives Online

There are a couple of ways you can create an online business selling knives to make recurring income. First, you can buy knives from a supplier and sell them marked up at a price people will still want to pay, regardless the type of knives you are selling. I don’t recommend this unless you already have an established business selling knives and want to move it online, though, because you have to deal with the headache of finding the supplier, paying shipping costs, and stocking inventory, which isn’t something online entrepreneurs really want to do, even if they love knives.

Second, you can set up an affiliate marketing business. This is substantially easier to do and what I recommend to anyone looking to start selling online. Essentially, all you have to do is find an program where a company sells knives you are interested in, you put links on a website telling people to buy the knives, and they give you a commission for each referral from your site who actually makes a sale. There is very little cost to get it started or keep it running other than perhaps hosting a website, which brings us to our next section.

  1. I love the fresh take on selling knives. Usually, you think of the Cutco guys, banging on your door and expecting all your time and attention for their hour-long presentation. On top of that, you don’t have to limit yourself to one vendor.

What other products do you think would benefit from this model of selling? I currently have a home recording studio site that is primarily based on blogging about product reviews. Do you think I could do something similar with that?

    Great article!

    • Hey Ryan,

The types of products that could benefit from this type of model of selling are nearly endless. The web is only growing each day with billions upon billions of search performed each year. It sounds like you are already on the right track with your product review site. Just make sure that you are also giving others the option of buying the products from you through the use of affiliate links.
