How to Sell Crochet Items Online

People love homemade items. There is an element of rustic elegance to crafts that weren’t produced by a machine, and people are willing to pay big for them. Crocheted items, particularly clothing, blankets, and amigurumi, are among some of the most popular homemade items people are dying to get their hands on nowadays, so if you are a crocheter and would like to capitalize on your craft, keep reading to see how to sell crochet items online and what you need to do to take your crochet to the next level.

Before You Sell

There are a couple of things you will want to do before you dive into the online Twitter-sphere or Insta-world to start selling your crocheted items. A lot of crocheted items take substantial time to create while others actually go rather quickly. What you will want to do first and foremost is decide on a few items that you want to produce that people are looking for. If you want to sell amigurumi, for example, this takes a lot of time and there may be a smaller market for how much you would want to charge to make some amigurumi worth your time. The same goes for crocheted blankets. Making small hats and bonnets, however, takes a lot less time and those are currently trending. I’m not saying you should only go for one type of crocheted item, rather you should consider what you are personally able to make that people want and are willing to pay for. Do your research and see who you want to sell to and tailor your crocheted items to them.

How to Sell Your Crocheted Items

Once you have decided on what you want to sell, you will also want to consider the vehicle you use to sell. What I mean by this is that several crochet experts will sell their crocheted items at different venues and fairs, but if you want to reach more people and sell crocheted items to a larger audience, you will want to do it online.

To sell online, you first and foremost need a website. A website will display your crocheted items and give you a chance to interact with your visitors and potential customers on a more personal level. After you build out a website, you will want to drive as many people to it as possible, which is where social media, like Twitter and Instagram, will come in useful, as well as search engine optimization (SEO), and direct ad targeting through Facebook or other online channels. The more people who come to your site, the better your chances of making a sale. Your entire goal from there will be to get more and more people buying your crocheted items, and you can continue to build and grow your business as much as you would like.
